Psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Multidimensional Assessment of Parenting Scale.

Parenting practices have been linked to a wide range of issues related children's psychological adjustment; however, more research is warranted further understand not only cultural variations parenting norms, but also how such might differentially influence child outcomes. The current study examined the psychometric properties Chinese translation Multidimensional Assessment Scale (MAPS) in order to: (a) assess both positive and negative dimensions Chinese-speaking societies (b) explore association between these psychopathological symptoms. A total 2,237 parents with children 6 12 years old completed MAPS, Interpersonal Mindfulness (IM-P), adapted Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), other measures psychosocial functioning. Exploratory confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) revealed clear six-factor structure. Strong strict measurement invariance for gender, parent age were found. results demonstrated adequate terms internal consistency test-retest reliability. MAPS subscales showed concurrent convergent validity mindful parenting, parent-child bonding, psychopathology version will help facilitate multidimensional promote future cross-cultural studies examining effect on adjustment.
